| (photo by Bob Wallace) Why are they doing this? What is their cause? Bud - "We aren't promoting any particular cause. We've simply slowed down to really see the world and learn what it has to teach us"; Bud is writing a series of books about their odyssey. The working title for the first one is, Footloose in America - Dixie to New England. |
The back of the cart folds down as a stage for poetry shows. The Kennys finance their journey by passing the hat for donations at these shows. They also sell Bud's poetry books while they are on the road. This photo was taken on the "Bridge of Dreams" which crosses the Mohican River on an old Penn-Central railroad bed in Ohio. |

| Their travels sometimes take them into cities. This photo was taken by Patricia from inside the cart in downtown Cincinnati. Usually she walks, but in cities she rides to operate the brake. It's safer that way. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A campsite on the Kokosing River in Ohio. Note the solar panel on top of the cart. The cart also generates electricity from the rotation of the wheels. This powers stage lights and a sound system for the poetry shows. And it powers a computer and printer. The day after this photo was taken the river rose from overnight rains. While fleeing the rising water, they almost lost the cart in the flooding river |
