| While they were in the Bronx members of the NYPD suggested they go to Central Park to find a place to camp. The Kennys wanted to see Manhattan and possibly visit Ground Zero. But to do that they needed a place to camp for a couple of nights. Central Park sounded like the perfect place. So into Manhattan they went, headed for the park. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| But Della and the Kennys were turned away at Central Park. "This is the crown jewel of the city! We can't have that here!" So they had to head out of town, and walked 19 miles before they found a place to camp. This is on North Broadway near Spanish Harlem where the subway comes out of the ground and becomes an elevated train. They crossed the Harlem River on the Broadway Bridge after dark. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
